My Journey to Helping You Lead Better
Leadership isn’t something you’re born with – it’s something you develop. It’s a skill, a mindset, and a way of approaching the world that, when cultivated, can help you achieve more than you ever imagined possible. Over the years, I’ve learned that leadership is not about titles or authority, but about inspiring others, empowering them, and guiding them toward success.
A long time ago, 20 years to be exact, I was offered the position of head teacher at a private school. On paper, it seemed like a natural next step in my career. But I turned it down. Why? Because I didn’t think I was ready for it. At that point in my life, I wasn’t confident that I could lead others effectively, and I didn’t want to take on a responsibility that I felt I might not be equipped for. I was worried I wouldn’t know what to do, how to inspire a team, or how to make the hard decisions that come with being a leader.
Looking back, I see that I was afraid of failing, and I wasn’t fully aware of what leadership truly meant. It’s easy to think that leadership is about having all the answers, being perfect, and having a clear path laid out ahead of you. But in truth, leadership is a journey. It’s about learning, growing, and adapting as you go.
Over the years, my understanding of leadership has evolved dramatically. I’ve come to realise that the best leaders aren’t those with all the answers – they’re the ones who are willing to learn, who connect with their team, and who inspire others to follow them with trust and conviction. Leadership is less about being in control and more about empowering those around you to succeed.
That’s why I created Leadology.pro. Here, I’m going to share the lessons I’ve learned, the mistakes I’ve made, and the practices that have shaped my understanding of leadership.
